Charlotte & Dom’s Old Hall wedding: one more hour on the dance floor

Charlotte and Dom’s wedding had us travelling from a village church to vintage buses, from a sunlit garden to a barn full of dancing. By the evening, Sam was having such a good time filming that he stayed an extra hour. There was simply too much good stuff still happening.

They married on 23 May 2026 at All Saints Church in Ashdon, then celebrated at The Wedding Barn at Old Hall. We joined them for videography, capturing the day from the final preparations through to a very lively dance floor.

A glimpse of their day

The morning, and a first look with Dad

Charlotte’s plans for the morning included a reveal to her dad before leaving for the church, with a little time in the garden afterwards. These are lovely moments to film: the last adjustments to the dress and veil, followed by that first reaction from someone who knows you so well.

They give the beginning of a wedding film its own pace. There is plenty to do before the ceremony, but the small exchanges between people are often the parts that mean the most when you watch it back.

A church ceremony in Ashdon

At All Saints Church, Ashdon, the ceremony brought together family readings and music. Charlotte and Dom’s questionnaire included readings from Dom’s uncle and Charlotte’s maid of honour, with accordion and singing from Danny Pedlar.

For us, those voices and contributions are part of what makes the ceremony theirs. The words matter just as much as the pictures, and recording them carefully gives the finished film something the couple can return to long after the day.

Then it was back down the aisle and out into the sunshine for confetti, congratulations and a chance to catch up with everyone outside the church.

Vintage buses to a familiar barn

The vintage buses were a brilliant part of the day. They carried the wedding party between the church and the reception, giving the journey its own place in the film: people boarding, settling in and arriving together for the next part of the celebration.

It was particularly lovely to return to The Wedding Barn at Old Hall. We had already filmed two weddings there: the venue owner Georgie’s own wedding, and her sister’s a couple of years later. Coming back for Charlotte and Dom brought another chapter to a place we already had such happy memories of.

The barn’s timber beams, brick and flint walls and strings of lights made a warm setting for the reception. Charlotte and Dom’s flower-filled tables looked beautiful, with space outside for guests to chat and enjoy the afternoon.

In their review on Old Hall’s website, Charlotte and Dom described “such a lovely family-run atmosphere”. Having been there for weddings within the family as well as their day, that feels especially fitting.

A few minutes beneath the trees

Some of our favourite footage came from a little time away from the reception. Charlotte and Dom walked together along the tree-lined drive, turned beneath the branches and laughed into each other’s shoulders.

It is a beautiful backdrop, but their expressions are what make these scenes. Film keeps the movement and the moments between the stills: the turn, the laugh and the way they settle back together afterwards.

Speeches with plenty of familiar voices

The speeches brought more of the family into the story. The plan included Charlotte herself, her dad, Dom’s sister and the best man, with the wedding breakfast followed by speeches before the evening celebrations.

We filmed the reactions around the tables as well as the people speaking. A glance across the room or a burst of laughter can say as much as the line that prompted it, and those moments help bring the speeches back to life in the edit.

The dance floor that kept Sam there an extra hour

For the evening, Charlotte and Dom had chosen a playlist. Their questionnaire was clear about that, and once the dancing got going, the barn was full of energy. The couple and their guests gave us one great moment after another.

Sam does not usually stay beyond the planned coverage, but this was one of those evenings where he wanted to keep the camera rolling. He stayed an extra hour because the dancing was so much fun and was making such good footage.

Looking through those later scenes, you can see why: hands in the air, friends singing along and people properly throwing themselves into it beneath the lights. It was an awesome wedding to be part of, and a brilliant way to finish the film.

Another wedding to remember at Old Hall

From the morning with family to the last stretch of dancing, Charlotte and Dom gave us a day full of moments worth keeping. Returning to Old Hall made it all the more special.
